His nickname is “Mozart”, and most weeks German Thomas Broich is the conductor of the Brisbane Roar midfield.
But on Monday night at the A-League awards, Broich admitted to stage fright while walking to the podium to accept the Johnny Warren Medal for being league’s player of the season.
With his focus on Sunday’s grand final, Broich said he hadn’t dwelled on his impressive individual season or expectations he would be the first player in the league’s nine-year history to Soccer Shoes Cheap win the award twice.

“It was the first time I was actually thinking about it and was confronted with it,” he said at the Brisbane Airport on Tuesday.
“All of a sudden I get nervous like a schoolboy.”
With the Roar facing the physically imposing Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday, Broich said the home side would need to “battle hard”, but also maintain their slick Soccer Shoes outlet passing game.
“We all know they’re going to be desperate, they’re going to be ruthless. They’re so passionate about what they’re doing so it’s going to be a really tough contest.”
Brisbane coach Mike Mulvey paid tribute to Broich who joined Brisbane in nike mercurial cr7 2010, saying 33-year-old has always put the team ahead of personal accolades.
“Thomas and I would gladly hand back the individual trophies we won last night to have team success on the weekend,” he said.
“He as a person, first and foremost, is a fantastic guy. So humble, full of humility but again so much ability to dazzle and entertain.”
But it wasn’t just Broich taking in the accolades at Sydney's Randwick Racecourse on Monday night.
There was also success for Mulvey who was awarded coach of the year and women’s player Tameka Butt, voted the W-League player of the season.
Brisbane youth player Brandon Borello also won the National Youth League’s player of the year.
"What has been congregated here in Brisbane over the last number of years is a great playing group, a great culture and a great environment that enables success," Mulvey said.
