Karakura didn't have many libraries, but the ones they did have were almost like a home for Yaksha; he would show up no less than once a week, always taking up residence in the same place. Ever since he'd gotten his Gigai, he'd made sure to make his presence known, bringing small gifts for those who ran the building, and making sure to keep things bright and maintained as best he could. A few people jokingly called him the librarian's guardian angel, and his name had almost become a constant within the building. Today, he was curled up in a corner, reading yet another book about the adventures of some hard-boiled detective, and the cases he took on. Wasn't it so amusing, how the world always seemed to fall into the same familiar patterns; how the same generations told the same stories, with only the slightest spin on them? He shook his head at the subtle absurdity of life, and let out a low chuckle.

"Must be a good book, huh? I've never seen you laugh in the month you've been coming here."

Yaksha glanced over his shoulder at one of the regulars of the library; a woman with a feeling of entirely too much chocolates in her childhood, who was doing her best to repent entirely too late. He managed a slight grin, and then waved a hand around him. The library was decked out in the holiday spirit, with snowflakes cut out of paper, and small christmas trees on every wall. Yaksha hardly even had to look away from the book to remember the gaudy attempt at holiday merriment, but he looked around for her benefit, regardless. "Just...the thought of all this. Christmas is such a popular holiday, but people never really stop to think about where it all CAME from. Everybody forgets the reason that we do what we do, and say what we say."

"Well, Christmas is the birth of Jesus of course! That's not very hard to understand, is it?"

"Certainly not. But the fact of the matter is that there were celebrations held on this same day long before Jesus was even born. Back to the time when much of life was clustered around Rome and Greece, there were still similar celebrations." He spoke nonchalantly, never even glancing at the woman. His gaze was firmly on the ceiling as his own mind filled in the details. Hand to the breast, faux gasp. Slight expression of interest, but really it's just an attempt to flirt. You're all too transparent, Mirabelle. When he glanced around, her hand was indeed on her breast, and her other hand was hovering by her mouth as her eyes twinkled mischievously.

"Really now? But what reason did they have to celebrate?"

"The solstice, of course. They still had winter at that time, obviously. It was quite a bit colder over there, but the theory was the same; there were periods of longer nights and longer days...times where it was best to plant, and best to harvest. They were quite in tune with the stars in those days. Even before we knew what the sun WAS, we could identify the very day where it would be closest to us, and the day it would be furthest."

"You seem to know quite a lot about this. You must have been quite the history buff."

"More than that, dear. I'm a dinosaur; it's a sad fact that I'm a relic of times long past. Times when a woman of your sort would've been held on a pedestal for her appearance, and considered the highest of women. I should've been born several centuries ago..." He chuckled again, turning back towards her book as Mirabelle tried her best to hide her blush, or her flattered giggles. Yes, anyone who can see the patterns has the world in their hands...it does get quite boring, though. Let's hope we can find something more fun to pass the time today...

A soft click and the lights went out in the room, a swear coming from one of back shelves. Giggling came from somewhere else as a pink haired child sat on the top of the book shelf. Dust seemed to dance in the dark air around her as she stretched out. The white uniform was the thing that made her the most noticeable. The light from the windows was enough to allow people to read in comfort without being blinding. Not to mention she was a monster of shadows. In Ravilin's hands was a picture book, thing was the girl was trying to learn to read. As embarrassing as it sounded the small fraccion wanted to learn how to read. Slowly she tried to pronounce her phonics. "Th-e cat ran ho- ... hooome... No.." The girl screwed up her features before sighing and tucking the book under her arm. Ravilin knew there was a hollow in there but for the most part they left her alone. When the lights clicked on, Ravi froze in spot her eyes suddenly going wide. Should she run or? Edging on the shelf she noticed a hollow and a human, the blue eyes held a curious look. He knew how to read? She felt worse now. If a hollow could read and she couldn't even get that far....

Hopping off the shelf the young girl knew no one could really see her and most spiritually aware ignored the small child. The white outfit fluttered around her as a look of interested moved over her features. Finally the young girl went through the small opening the hum from the lights rather loud. The young girl tripped on the ground in front of the human and hollow. Slowly she lifted her head looking up to the woman who looked like she had jowls. Holy shit. Bouncing up to the balls of her feet the young girl bowed in apology to the two even if the human couldn't see her and slunk off once more towards the shelves the book kept firmly planted under her arm.

The lights went out and almost immediately, a scream ripped through the silence. Mirabelle's hands has flown between her bosom, and she was breathing heavily as she glanced around back and forth. Yaksha's eyes were still closed, his breaths even and calm as he spoke. "Mirabelle, please. Take a few deep breaths, and go find the light switch. Or the breaker. This is no reason to panic." He opened one eye, now a lemon yellow, slanted sideways as if a cat had suddenly inhabited his hollow skull. The area was dark, but not totally black; he could still see perfectly well in the dark, and there was a girl sitting atop a bookcase, clearly struggling to read.

The lights clicked on, and the girl froze as if she were a deer in headlights. He smiled just slightly, watching as she tried to work out the best way to go about her escape. Before she could, he spoke out, staring at the roof. "It's a sad state...not being able to read. It makes me cry, thinking of all the unfortunate people out there. I wish there was something I could do for them...some way to show them the joy of a good book, or getting swept up into a finely crafted story." His gaze lowered slowly, towards the young girl. She was skittering off as he watched, and with a small sigh he rose, tucking a book between his elbow and his chest, walking after her. His movements were lithe, graceful, and full of a quiet confidence that suffused his entire being. He almost seemed to glide through the library, humming under his breath.
