Rubianca's Try-out Post

Ruby had been within her Division grounds, her chin just above the heightened pole, about to complete her 140th consecutive chin up...when she was interrupted by one of her high-pitched, pesky subordinates. She paused. She hung in mid-air, her brown bangs and blackened Shinigami outfit swept to the left by the wind, her ponytail dancing with the breeze as if mimicking waving fingers, her chin above the pole, her arms completely curled, her biceps convulsed, her legs crossed, her knees bent, her two little friends holstered under her arm-pits, her dual Zanpakuto's on the ground and her Captain's haori swung over the two weapons.

"T-T-Taichou..." the short, pale weasel spoke. The veins on her neck convulse, but otherwise she remains unmoved. A momentary silence befalls the two. Taking her silence as cue to continue, the little guy proceeds. "The Captain Commander has ordered all Captains to mobilize." As his last, slimy word sweeps through her ear, Ruby immediately lets go and drops down ten feet. She slams onto the ground below. A slight shock fires through the earth as her feet collide with the soil, her knees slightly contract due to the force. Seconds after she regains her posture, she asks coldly "Where?" Her counterpart flinches slightly, stepping back a foot. She could feel his unease...smell it. Stuttering, he answers. "T-T-T-The human world, ma'am...Karakura-" But before he could finish, Ruby had already grabbed both her haori and her two wakizashis. In the blink of an eye, she had already holstered her two blades within her black sash and was now sliding her right arm through her white cape. When had she done all this? He swore she had been standing beside him this whole time. She turns away from him, slides her remaining arm through the left socket of her haori and begins to walk modestly in the direction of the Senkaimon Gate. Her hair and haori trailed behind her, as if yearning for its master. Before she disappears in a flurry of flash step, Ruby exclaims "Why don't you go clean the bathrooms or some shit?" Before that poor little messenger could reply, Ruby was no longer there.

She had marched past the Senkaimon guards with the coldness of the antarctic, not even acknowledging their existence. Her gaze had remained straight and unmoved. As she had passed through the Precipice World, Rubianca had but for a brief moment thought of her lieutenant. That Xarath Shiru. She scoffed. That fuck was probably already there, already at Karakura Town. Oh, how she wanted him to say something. She'd have his head. As she transcended from realm to realm, Ruby felt little discomfort. She'd done this countless times before.

The very fabric of reality distorts. A Senkaimon materializes atop a tall building. The well trimmed, ornate paper doors slide open to reveal a white blankness. From within this blinding light emerges a staunch, coated female, her dark silhouette pulsing white. As the light disperses, her disposition becomes apparent. Her brows were furrowed, her gape was closed and her eyes displayed a sense of annoyance. Her ponytail and haori suddenly swipe to the right as a gust of wind blows. The Senkaimon then closes and the base of reality returns to its original sky blue. Her arms stood by her sides, fingers loose.

Yes, this definitely was the right place. She could sense a myriad of spiritual energies...and even that of the Captain Commander. She smirks. That man...that powerhouse. Her smirk quickly turns to a frown as she walks over to the edge of the rooftop. As she lifts her right leg and steps onto the elevated edge of the roof, she peers down. Ruby's eyes are met with a city full of monkeys and her ears with the ignorant exclamations of buffoons. She could see the whole picture. It seemed her fellow Captains and the Espada had agreed to host a Battle Royale. How impulsive and ignorant of her comrades, well, co-workers. Yes, definitely co-workers. Well, what more could she expect from the lot? The Captain Commander had gotten pretty soft lately. She shakes her head. Her bangs blur her vision slightly as they swipe back and forth while her ponytail swings left to right and back again.

She steps back her elevated foot and then walks, one foot in front of the other, a slight distance to the left. Her head remained turned though, her locked eyes not leaving the battlefield below. Her hair and haory flow behind her as she travels. She stops abruptly and turns straight once more to face the open view. Ruby then squats and takes a seat on a ventilation shaft, just feet from the edge of the rooftop. She had pushed down on the hilts of her blades to facilitate her squat. Her legs were now spread apart, just past shoulder width. She reaches under the left side of her haori and pulls out a cigarette with her right hand. With her left hand she reaches into a pocket of that same side of her kimono, just beside her left breast and pulls out a black, metallic lighter. She then raises the cig, which was fastened between her right index and middle fingers, to her lips. She then raises her left hand, thumb on flint wheel ready to light. A condensed fire shoots forth from the maw of the wolf, lighting the cig. She takes a puff and then re-pockets the wolf inspired lighter. She had done all this without shifting her eyes. No, she had kept them locked onto those below.

"I'm getting too old for this shit" she murmurs as she hunches over and rests her elbows on her knees. The added weight had caused a resounding crush of concrete rubble under her feet. Her voice had rung raspy and calm. Her cigarette was now entrenched between her lips, protruding to the right. She takes another puff of her smoke. Her eyes flicker with reflection from the reddish-orange spark of the cigarette's tip. She'd just wait here, observing the mess below. Hopefully she wouldn't have to jump in, but she knew she'd more than likely have to save someone's ass.

Contrary of what his captain had thought of him, Xarath was not already present on the battlefield. He would never dare to arrive before her, especially when she had not ordered him to. No, currently Xarath was busy opening his own Senkaimon, trying to shake off the nervous flutter which had started to bubble in his belly ever since he found out that the woman had just... gone. Luckily he had crossed paths with the meek Shinigami, who was polite enough to stutter a greeting before informing his Fukutaichou where Oukami-taichou had gone off to. The male clicked his tongue twice, like his taichou also ignoring the guards, hurrying his footsteps a little more.

Oh he was very much aware of the fact that the tough woman most likely just had to snip with her fingers and even if somebody was stronger - his taichou also did not lack brain. Why the hell could he not shake that feeling off then? Did it always have to follow him?

Xarath sighed before clicking his tongue, stepping now through the portal into the human world - blinking his eyes, which had become blurry at the sudden change of light, before taking in the scene slightly below, in front of him. Again he clicked his tongue, his expression as stoic as ever, before concentrating on his taichou. He noticed her presence to his left, glancing shortly towards that direction before his eyes moved back onto the battle.
He had not gathered any information on why they were here... had the old fool just been itching for a fight?
Currently it seemed like the most logical reason.

Again a sigh left his lips, before he turned and shunpo'd towards his captain. There was no reason for him to join the fight right now. He was neither in danger, nor had his captain ordered him to.
It only took him a few moments before he stopped down in front of her.

"Oukami-taichou." he murmured and bowed in greeting, before his eyes fell onto her. Still not daring to look into her eyes he busied himself by mustering her while side-stepping - making sure her eyes could stay settled onto the scene bellow.
Just in case.

That cigarette - held so delicately between fingers that could easily snap someone's spine.
The details in her clothes - making her eccentric without ever needing to force herself into the spotlight.
Her posture - so vulgar and seemingly relaxed, though he could see in the light tension of her muscles that her attention was were it was needed.
She was a professional - through and through.

He stepped behind her, rolling one of the golden rings on his left index finger with the fingertips of his right hand - one of the few things he could do to make his uniform... less ugly, while also turning his eyes back onto the scene bellow, clicking his tongue.

Xarath would stand there in silence, knowing that she would speak when it was needed.
Yes, a professional.

Ruby had raised her left arm and had begun to scratch her neck when a loud explosion had erupted from the adjacent rooftop. The gust of dust had expanded, quickly at that, in her direction. Surprisingly, the current of debris completely avoided her. It swirled around her but it never invaded her privacy. What had kept the aftermath at bay? Nonchalantly, she returns her arm to rest on her left knee just as the funnel of dirtied air completely disperses. She had ignored the outburst and instead had retained her eyes on the streets below. Her expression had remained blank. She takes a whiff of her smoke. The cig was now burnt half way through.

Suddenly, a Senkaimon materializes to her left out of a pocket of distorted reality. Instead of the beautiful, clear jet blue, now stood blinding white. Her closed gape twitches slightly, almost resembling a smirk. She knew who would emerge from this whiteness. Her lovely, gorgeous Vice Captain. Yes, lovely.

As he emerges, Ruby's eyes remain unmoved and her expression the same. They remain locked onto those combating below. She could see him quite clearly through her peripheral vision. Another gust of wind blows her hair to the left. Suddenly, her left ear twitches. The muscles just to the left and right of her nostrils flex, wrinkling the skin of her nose and causing her brows to furrow. That little fuck. If he wasn't belittling himself, he was sighing. She takes another puff. Thankfully, it calms her down a bit. Her expression quickly returns to its blank past.

Ruby then senses Xarath's presence near. Yes, he was really goddamn close. Maybe he wanted a biscuit? She smiles inwardly.

He was now mere feet away, to her left. Her left peripheral notices the young male's swirling, silky smooth dark hair. She envied him at times. Dark was always better.

"Oukami-taichou."

She remains silent and unflinching. She knew he had bowed. That was one of his characteristics that she praised, respect. That trait alone had gotten her to where she stood now. A Captain of the Gotei 13. She scoffs inwardly. Yes, the grand and mighty Gotei 13. But Xarath, he took it too far. Rubianca knew exactly how the young Vice Captain treated himself. He was no one's dog, not even her's.

As her Vice Captain walks behind her, through her brown bangs, Rubianca notices a large, fiery explosion erupt down on ground level. The vibrations of the explosion reverberate through the building and then through her very soul. Her skin tingles and the hairs on the back of her neck stand. She takes another smoke. The ash barely falls an inch before it is swept away by the wind.

Ruby remains hunched over in her original position. The skin above her knees, where her elbows lay, were now red. But she didn't care. It actually felt good, the numbness. It reminder her of her mortality. It would keep her alive. She raises her right hand and pulls out the cigarette. It was now gripped in between her thumb and index fingers.

With a raspy yet serious tone, she asks her feminine Vice Captain, "What do you think?"
